Drunk Valkyrie vs. Ghost Pterodactyl

No - You read that right. And we couldn't have been more excited to review the cover either! What could be more fun than watching a crazy lady with swords take on a dinosaur, and top the Amazon charts?

I do not own this book, nor am I affiliated with it in any way

Book Title: "Murder of Crows" (Click to buy, and support an Indie author!)

Book Series: Shaman States of America

Target Audience: Young Adult

Save the Cat Genre: Superhero

In a world where the monsters of myth are 100% real and a deadly problem for humans, professional monster hunters must be hired to take these fatal beasts out! To face this challenge, humans must look to the Pantheon's of their ancestor's past in order to be "Powered" fighters; humans with the magic and strength of their cultural gods in order to win.

In the case of Elizabeth Fox, that power comes from Odin himself, via her mother's Nordic bloodlines, which comes with an equally savage wit and tongue as well! Being the Valkyrie she is, ElizabethFox also goes into any fight with quite a vein of style - Atop an overpowered motorcycle while wearing all leather, dual wielding frost-covered Viking swords, and while being as drunk as her ancestors too boot! Needless to say, the humor is as high and as epic as the battles themselves! Especially given that her first real fight is against the ghost of a Pterodactyl (10 outta' 10!) . Not since Venkman himself made fun of ole' "Zuhly" in Ghostbusters has there been more insults hurled at a penthouse poltergeist! (Plus seriously... #GHOSTDINOSAUR! I'm no longer a Young Adult at all, but I'm absolutely geeking out!!!)

The Indie Writers/Publisher were both wise and clever to specifically feature the above-mentioned fight scene between our intrepid Valkyrie as the main cover for this supehero novel, which resembles that of a comic book almost! And as such, any fans of the #MarvelComicUniverse who are still hankering for more action and epic fights like those seen on Thor: Ragnarok can absolutely whet their appetites with this story! It is fast; action-packed; fun; has a lot of clever retorts; and has just a touch of "Detective Noir" flair as Elizabeth Fox tries to puzzle out how a ghost dinosaur gets loose in Seattle in the first. Tons of fun!

#MarvelComic fans hankering for more Thor: Ragnarok, can absolutely whet their appetites with this superhero story!

To no surprise, the cover is also right on queue with what this Blog dubs a #BingoBeat - More specifically, the cover represents the the Catalyst Story Beat for this novel, in which Elizabeth Fox's "normal" life is about to be further turned upside down. Considering that she spends her time beating the snot out of cryptids, that's quite a feat!

Given that I don't want to give away the entire novel, and spoil it, I will only add just one more piece in regards to the plot of the book - The Theme Stated of this novel is delightfully "gray" for being a Superhero tale. What does that mean? Well, despite being a near "Superhero" and absolute powerhouse in her own right, the fact of the matter is that Elizabeth Fox is still a human! A fact that her team members hvae to remind her of, because if she forgets her limits, it's may be just one slip before a would-be "superhero" may instead become a would-be "victim". A great motto in humility that any of us would do well to remember!

That being said, I find myself with only one gripe in regards to this cover: It looks nothing else alike the other covers in the "Shaman States of America" series; a trait that very much worries me that the rest of the series may not resemble this fantastic tale! In this Graphic Designer's humble opinion, I sincerely hope that the Writers/Publishers chose to unify the series together, giving each and every one of them a similar look and feel (like a comic book!) in order to push the superhero-esque trait that I loved so much in this story.

Great job! I'm looking forward to seeing more!
